Women's basketball dominates High Point

The women's basketball team improved to 4-1 on the season with an 82-32 blowout of the High Point Panthers on Dec. 2. The Deacons got out to a 45-15 lead in the first half, including 23 unanswered points during a stretch when High Point was unable to score for almost 10 minutes.

Bersagel leads harriers to 9th at NCAAs

Sophomore harrier Annie Bersagel had a day to remember on Dec. 2, leading the women's cross country team to its highest finish ever in the NCAA Championship and earning All-American honors.

Deacs burst out of the gate for a 3-0 record

Miss Cleo said it was going to be a good week for the Demon Deacon men's basketball team, and she was right. The Deacs opened up the 2002-2003 regular season with a 73-61 pasting of Yale and followed that up with a resounding 83-76 victory over Temple.

Volleyball finishes high

The Wake Forest women's volleyball team finished its 2002 season in winning fashion as they swept the Crimson Tide of Alabama Nov. 30 after they lost in the first round of the ACC Tournament to Georgia Tech.

ACC basketball wrap-up

Last year's joke of the ACC has become one of this young season's best stories. After upsetting No. 2 Kansas on Nov. 27, the Tar Heels continued their determination to prove themselves as a worthy opponent by winning the Preseason NIT championship Nov. 29 against Stanford (4-1).

The Florida State Seminoles upended their in state rivals Florida, in Tallahassee on Nov. 30. While the Seminoles won the ACC and are guaranteed a spot in a BCS bowl, it has still been a rough season for the team.
