Turnovers doom Deacs in Death Valley

Apparently, the Holy Bible and our Barbarians of the Bible Belt have more in common than just one word. "Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil." While the Demon Deacon football team didn't have to worry about evil on their trip to Death Valley, the home of the Clemson Tigers, turnovers were another story.


Men's soccer ties Tigers in epic; seizes No. 1

The Deacs may not be the top-ranked men's soccer team in the country in every poll, but their 2-2 draw against Clemson Oct. 19, and their 3-1 victory over Elon Oct. 23, earned them the program's first No. 1 ranking in school history in the Soccer Times Coaches' Poll.

Wake Forest women's cross country vaulted to 4th in the FinishLynx/NCAA poll with a 2nd-place finish out of 37 teams in the NCAA Pre-National Invitational on Oct. 19. The 6,000-meter race took place in Terre Haute, Ind.

Hockey makes it a Deacon Dozen at home

eniors Maria Whitehead, Heather Aughinbaugh and Lynne Shenk stepped onto the field together for the 42nd consecutive time and shut out, 2-0, 12th-ranked UNC on Senior Day. The 4th-ranked field hockey team improved their record to 13-2 (3-0 ACC) while extending their winning streak to 12 games. In the last regular season home game of the year, the Deacs continued their defense of Kentner Stadium, recording 21 straight victories.

Women's soccer fails to tame No. 20 Clemson

The Demon Deacons journeyed south of the border to Clemson, S.C., looking for their third conference win, but found the Tigers to be untamable. Wake Forest faced off against the nationally ranked conference foe on Oct. 17 hoping to break back into the top 10.

Deacs drop Bucs in three

Once again the volleyball team showed their resilience as they dismantled East Tennessee State on Oct. 22, 30-19, 30-17, 30-18. After dropping two heartbreakers to ACC foes, No. 24 Georgia Tech and Florida State, both in four games, the Deacs managed to bounce back with a victory.
