Series II triumphs
The beginning of March means many things. It means the first signs of spring. It means high expectations for the Deacons in the NCAA tournament. And it means a new Studio Series show from University Theatre. 'Shell
Shaker' honors American Indians
I didn't really know what to expect when I picked up Shell Shaker, a novel by LeAnne Howe, a former visting professor of English. Oh, sure, from reading the back cover I had a few hazy notions of an interwoven past and present, Choctaw history and myths, someone called a "shell shaker" and a murder mystery. I was not, however, anticipating a journey through the metaphysical, a vendetta spanning six generations or an elderly woman who morphs into the body of a giant porcupine. Baraka
evokes political controversy through poetry

and the Campus': Sex secrets are kept secret for a reason I had an interesting conversation with a friend of mine last night. He IM'ed me and asked what I was doing. 'Soldiers'
not the typical war film Nelson
branches out in 'Divide'
Willie Nelson's last totally country studio album is hard to remember. It must have been back in the mid-1990s, but no one can really say for sure ¯ the call of what exactly is country and what isn't would be too subjective to make. |
