'Deacons on Parade' auction nets $35,000

Homecoming week typically features formal dances, a packed football game and lots of school colors. But a unique event added some additional meaning to this year’s festivities when 16 seven-foot statues of the Demon Deacon mascot were auctioned off during the weekend.

This weekend, Van Veen will be traveling on an expenses-paid trip with Page West, an associate professor of business in the Calloway School, to Chicago, Ill. for the annual meeting of the National Association of Collegiate Entrepreneurs.

OGB wins award for excellence
Old Gold and Black Staff Report
The Associated Collegiate Press awarded a national Pacemaker award to the Old Gold and Black at the group’s national conference Oct. 27 in New Orleans, La.
The award signifies that the paper was judged to be one of the 22 best college newspapers in the country for its 2000-2001 editions.

SBAC gives final allocations

The Student Budget Advisory Committee’s allocations were released Oct. 30.
The small increase in funds, approximately $10,000, or two percent, from last year’s budget made it difficult for the SBAC to apportion the estimated $504,000.
