The university theater department and director Sharon Andrews will give William Shakespeare’s classic A Midsummer Night’s Dream a new look Nov. 7 when they open on the MainStage for a run of seven shows.

Hughes brothers evolve in 'From Hell'

The Hughes brothers’ latest film, From Hell, is a gory suspense thriller portraying the events surrounding the infamous Jack the Ripper and his killing spree that terrorized the streets of 1888 London. While their films traditionally deal with urban street violence (Menace II Society, Dead Presidents), this departure highlights many of their unique filmmaking techniques, showing their versatility and ability to adapt their gritty urban style to a totally different time and setting.

Country's George Jones brings trademark twang to 'The Rock'

One of the more vocal critics of the pop-country movement that has emerged over the past decade has been George Jones. The veteran country crooner has been quick to voice his concerns about the increasing tendency of country radio and CMT to play music designed simply to fit into the mainstream. Additionally, he often points to the fact that older artists such as himself, who have remained true to traditional country music, are now passed over in favor of younger, prettier stars, who are simply performing formulaic pop songs meant to make a quick dollar for their respective record company.
