Blues Traveler performs more than mainstream hits at Wait
By George Graves
It’s always fun to look back at bands that seemed to have a huge impact, only to fade away into the annals of music history. Blues Traveler is one of these bands.

The band hit it big in 1994 with their album Four, which introduced most of the world to their blues-based, harmonica-heavy rock. “Run-Around” became a Top 40 hit, and it looked like they would be here for the long run.

'Blue Leaves' yields strong performances
By Taylor Kennamer
The House of Blue Leaves, John Guare’s three-act play, kicked off the 2001-2002 MainStage season on Oct. 3. This production might not be, to paraphrase a line from the play, the biggest thing since the premiere of Cleopatra, but it is a solid, thought-provoking effort filled with familiar faces.

South By Southwest offers upscale dining wih Santa Fe kick
By Hayley Sanders
The tangerine-colored interior, Latin guitar music and the brightly strung Christmas lights, which adorn the bar contribute to an inviting atmosphere to warm up to on chilly fall nights. The owner went to great lengths to give the interior a genuine Santa Fe feel, as Southwestern paintings, cacti and chiles hang from the walls.

David Allan Coe performs at Ziggy's with flare of the past mixed with the new
By David Irvine
The music came to a sudden halt halfway through a performance of “Desperate Man” David Allan Coe concert at Ziggy’s Sept. 26. “I have received about 40 e-mails from people who heard rumors on TNN that I was dead,” Coe said to the hushed crowd. “Do I look dead?” he then said, with the additional benefit of a few unmentionable expletives.

Hopkins shows sentimental side in 'Atlantis'
By Jennie Loughridge
As I looked over the movie listings last weekend, the prospects seemed limited. I couldn’t find any movie that I really wanted to see. There were definitely movies playing that I wanted to avoid, namely Mariah Carey’s new film Glitter, centered around a character oh-so-similar to Mariah Carey. Leelee Sobieski has two movies out in theatres right now, but I didn’t care to see either of them. She looks like a mini-Helen Hunt; I just don’t like it. Finally I saw that Hearts in Atlantis had been released: it seemed to be my safest bet if I wanted to see a good movie. I thought if Anthony Hopkins did the film, it must be somewhat intelligent and interesting. Has everyone’s favorite cannibal ever made a bad movie? As I sat down in the theatre, I hoped that Sir Anthony would not disappoint.
